Bexley Team Children’s Church

This month for Bexley Team Children's Church, we continue to explore our Old Testament Heroes of the Faith. This month it's the turn of Gideon, the man who used a musical instrument to defeat an entire army (well, sort of anyway!) You can find Gideon's video and all our other Children's Church episodes here.... https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCPTwEiJwqMXAA98yC2oTiGw

Saturday 4th September  5.30 pm Nightwatch Zoom Service

The Collect: Almighty God, whose only Son has opened for us a new and living way into your presence:  give us pure hearts and steadfast wills to worship you in spirit and in truth; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever.

 Bible Readings  Isaiah 35 v4-7a  James 2 v1-17   Mark 7 v24-37

The Additional Collect for Trinity 14:  Merciful God, your Son came to save us and bore our sins on the cross: may we trust in your mercy and know your love, rejoicing in the righteousness that is ours thorugh Jesus Christ our Lord.

A prayer for Climate Sunday God of all creation, your goodness and glory shine forth through everything you have made. Through the light of faith, help us to see this world, our common home, not as a resource to dominate and exploit, but as a gift to be cherished by all generations. Prompted by your Spirit, we ask this in the name of Jesus, through whom all creation was made. Amen. BEXLEY TEAM CHURCHES – PLEASE SUPPORT THE NORTH CRAY & DISTRICT FESTIVAL OF REMEMBRANCE

The North Cray community are planning to hold a Festival of Remembrance on Sunday 7 November, which is the weekend BEFORE Remembrance Sunday. After a parade from the War Memorial at the North Cray Parish Church of St James, there will be a display of stories and memorabilia in the Scouts’ Geoffrey Hall, Leafield Lane, North Cray. The planning group are currently gathering items and stories for this display from the local community. The information they need is the name and what they did during the war times. They already have war stories ranging from a soldier who was one of first people who arrived to free prisoners from the prisoner of war camp Belsen, to a grandfather who drove the ammunition Bombs from air fields to and from Woolwich Arsenal along Plumstead High Street.

The stories (with the writer’s permission) will be displayed on the walls of the Scout’s Geoffrey Hall and all stories will be passed on to the Royal British Legion to keep copies on their website so that these accounts of the war will never be forgotten and will be held for generations to come.  Any uniforms or paperwork, ration books etc should be labelled so they can be returned to the correct person.  More information about the event will follow soon – book the date in your diary. Let me know if you are interested in taking part and supporting this event and I will pass your details onto the organisers. Rev Ren.
